How do you tie It?

This is where YouTube came in to help me. I discovered a guy named Alex Krasny, who was a necktie expert, and within 5 minutes of watching his videos on the Eldredge, I tied my first knot. (here’s how it turned out)

So I tied the Eldredge on my graduation and received many compliments and had many people ask me to tie it for them. How did I learn to do that? How much time did it take to get it? Well not very much at all, just a couple of minutes and a few attempts while being slow initially. Anyway, I appeared classy and had a unique look that set me apart from the others. I saw the potential in the knot and went on to tie the knot for multiple occasions and was acknowledged by everyone wherever I went.

The Success Factor

Fast forward to a few months later, I am in my first year of college, off to find internships for the summer. A company named Bonnington Hotel & McGettigan’s Group sends an interview our way, and I decide to go for it. Being a five-star hotel and having a prestigious rep in the community, it was exciting that my first interview would be for it.

So on the coming day, I dress up, put my tie on with the Eldredge and set off for the day. About ten of us from my college interview for it and one by one each enter’s and gets done then comes to my turn. I enter, there are two people, an Irish lady and the hotelier who showed us around the hotel right before the interview, we exchange pleasantries, and the questions come directly after which I answer to the best of my knowledge and confidence.

Within minutes we reach the end of the interview and the lady while smiling compliments my tie saying “That tie looks beautiful. Where did you learn to tie that? Can I have a link to it?” She further states that as people working at the hotel, its code that they dress very well and professionally and this would help them up the ante, she then thanks me for it and concludes the interview.

So out of the ten people who went for it, few backed out, and with Ramadan coming in soon after, I decided not to take it since the pay was low, and the commute wasn’t worth it. But they asked for me twice, later on, even mentioning to my friend that they wanted me as I dressed nicely and was a good fit for the post. This served as a reminder to why appearance plays a significant role in getting hired. While it also serves as a plus to your overall personality.

It was just one of the many instances I’ve had in getting the offer from a considerable lot of candidates who appeared for the interviews.

A Matter of Appearance

Out of the total of six interviews that I’ve had, I’ve gotten into five of them (it’s six on six now). I have had the choice to take the offer or not. Within them, the interviewer’s in all my interviews always praised, complimented and have asked me to teach it to them in one way or the other, including the folks at Hyperloop Transportation Technologies.

Four employees were interviewing the remaining three of us in the Stage two process of their recruitment to be the assistant of the head of operations for the MENA region. The HOO took note of my tie and said that I could teach it to them during the interview. Also out of the eight candidates that were there at stage one (all graduates, I was the only undergraduate student there), there were two of us remaining from the first one, and a new guy had popped up in the second, I guess he got the post in the end. (Update:- I got in)

But the point being, wearing the knot makes you stand out, be unique, look classy and stylish. It increases your odds of getting hired and standing out from the pack. It works in all sorts of environments be it a prom, the workplace, interviews, weddings etc … you’ll always be noticed and complimented and have some people awestruck by it.

So go ahead get off your shoes and tie the Eldredge, wear it with pride and keep your chin up, look in the mirror and instantly feel good about yourself and watch it make your day better in an instant and help you reach success. Who knew a small touch to a piece of accessory like a tie could do wonders like that? 😜
